Pressing the Record button will allow the player to make videos using the app. Pressing the Game button will allow the player to play Climber Tom (Added in 4.0 update) or Tap Tap (added in 5.0 update). Pressing the Costume button will allow the player to purchase clothes for Tom, alongside some decorations for the Apartment. Originally, it featured the original Talking Tom app until late-2013, and was also originally a paid feature, but from version 3.1, it is now free. Pressing the Phone button will make Tom grab a phone with My Talking Tom on it. This was originally a paid feature, but from version 3.1, it is now free. Pressing the Pillow button will make Ben hit Tom with a pillow, while feathers come out. Tom will put his hands out and say "Uh Uh!". If it's touched, it will mess up and Tom will annoyingly say "Come On!". 
Tom will get a knife and fork out and say "Hamm." When he sees nothing, he puts them away. If the rose is touched, it will be collected, and Tom will smile. Tom will get a Rose out, with a sad look. If the cake is touched, it will vanish and Tom will throw the tray away in disgust. If left alone, Ben will appear and smush it on Tom's head, which he will wipe clean. Some of the animations were originally paid features but are now free features starting from Version 3.1. Pressing the ? button will show some random animations of Tom doing things. This was originally a paid feature, but from Version 3.1, the feature is now free. Pressing the Fart button will make Ben fart at Tom, to which he will put a clothes peg on his nose to block the smell. On some occasions, Tom will scratch Ben, and Ben will say "Woahhhhh!" and run away. After a while, he will come down, or if poked will be knocked out and Ben will pour a bucket of water on him. Pressing the Bag button will make Ben scare Tom with a paper bag, causing him to cling onto the chandelier light. Touching his tail will make Tom react with a "Noooooo!!!". Poking his feet will make Tom point his paw and say "Nuh Nuh Nuh" or "No No No". Poking his belly will make Tom try and scratch you. 
On old versions of the game, old devices, or haven't hit Tom enough in 5.5.1, the door will open with nothing there.Sometimes, the cuckoo clock bird will give a flame.Hitting him three times will knock him out, Ben will pour a bucket of water on Tom, with sometimes shooting the cuckoo clock bird. When you Poke his head, he will be stunned.As with the other Talking Friends apps series, when saying anything into the microphone, Tom will repeat it in a funny high-pitched voice.Tom has a refreshed design, and there are new features included as well. Like with the original Talking Tom Cat, Talking Tom Cat 2 allows the player to mess around with Talking Tom himself.
